Spinet pianos are the smallest upright pianos available. Spinets were made as cheap, small pianos that don't take up much space. The problem was that they were made cheap and mass-produced, so they were made with less quality than most pianos, resulting in many problems. That is why spinets stopped being manufactured in the 1980s. Even though they are no longer being made there are still spinet pianos out there due to the large amount that were made. Spinets can run into many different problems including sticking, clicking, and broken keys. On the piano technician side, it is hardly worth it to do significant repairs to spinets because of the great difficulty due to them being so small and compact. Spinets are similar to cheap Chinese instruments now, low quality, cheap, and break down easily. So instead of getting a spinet choose a console or studio upright piano. Both of these options are bigger than spinets but will still be able to save you space over a full upright piano or baby grand piano and they will be higher quality.
