Key Leveling
Key leveling means leveling the keys so they lie even on a flat plane. This is necessary for a consistent, even touch and appearance. This is done by using a large straight level to determine which keys across the piano are too low or too high. Then you adjust the height by adding or removing punchings from the balance rail. This should be completed every 5-10 years for heavily played pianos or whenever you notice that your keys are not level.
