String Replacement/Splicing Strings
Breaking a piano string is a common occurrence. It can happen when playing the piano and when tuning the piano. It mostly happens to older pianos, but it can happen to any piano. If the piano string breaks due to a piano technician error the string will be repaired for free. If it breaks due to piano age then you'll pay for the string to be spliced or replaced. The cost of replacing a treble string would be $60 and for bass strings it is the cost of the string plus $60 for putting the string on. Splicing a piano string is a way to fix the string without replacing it. The cost for splicing a string is $40. Splicing string is a good solution to the broken string problem, but replacing the string will result in a better, longer-lasting result. Splicing strings is mostly recommended for bass strings as replacing them is more costly. When replacing strings the strings replaced will need to be tuned multiple times before they are adequately used to the tension.
